well what a contrast to last weeks - title a giveaway, straightforward cluing and the unclued words stood out very early on.

one good thing is that i havent been able to relax until yesterday with listener 4000, so bring on the weekend!

They've given us an easy one because they assume (rightly) that some of us are still sweating over the 4000 monster.

Is everyone happy with 39ac? I have finished the crossword but this answer does not seem to match the rest unless I alter the last letter; but I am pretty confident about 32dn

I guess anything was going to be anti-climactic after 4000, but I didn't really enjoy this one.
Dead giveaway title as you say M, fairly undemanding clues and a rather drudgy mechanical process to reach the end.

Twoshortplan - I think 39ac is fine. The last two words of the clue contain the clue to its location.

39ac was one of several which took a lot of winkling out, for me at least. But while some of the 12 were pretty painful, most of the others were very enjoyable, and I think all were fair, if necessarily a bit contrived. Now back to 4000...

Thanks Cruncher, I had missed that definition and got hung up thinking that maybe the last letter could be an "a" which ticks some boxes as well.

Probably should have paid more attention to endings at school .

I thought this was OK, fair enough as a Listener, but I cannot get 1d, and while I can see a derivation from the first two words, I can't find the word in Chambers.
