Can anyone give me a site address that gives the rules and regulations concerning entry to crossword comps. I've requested these by e-mail from several newspapers and mags. but not one has had the good manners to reply. Very grateful for any info. Thanks
I would have thought that each publication has its own rules as such. Are you meaning things like tippex and crossing out etc, if you mean the rules re prizes I think there is a gaming commission but not sure.
I do know all of them do not allow photocopy entries for obvious reasons.
I suspect most publications have no rules other than complete the grid correctly and clearly and send it in by the closing date. Certainly when I worked as an editor that was the position. Life's full enough of petty rules and regulations without adding more.
Most of the popular crossword puzzles permit very neat tippex alterations, as long as the answer is correct. The latest in the Tippex range, is called Tippex Rapid, it has a small wedge shaped applicator which is easy to use, and doesn't go into a blob. It also dries very quickly. It is so neat, that when the new letter is written over it, it is difficult to see that the letter has been changed.
Hi Furedup, I meant to also say that I always complete the crosswords in pencil, until I'm sure all the answers are correct, and then write it out in ball-point.
