I am sorry yvonnejoyce, I feel compelled to answer this criticism.

Firstly I have never seen anything that Bigdave has written that has appeared rude, occasionally he has been blunt but only when it is in answer to the same question for about the nth time.

Secondly, it is very difficult to determine whether a person is being intentionally rude or just appears so in the written word. So much relies on body language and voice tone.

Lastly, I have not read everything (or anyway near it) that Bigdave has written on this site - , so maybe I am wrong, but I have respect for the man's intellect and he doesn't have to come and help people, presumeably that is a plus for his character isn't it?

I agree that the rudeness needs to be stamped out Yvonne but sometimes you notice mutiple questions about the same thing and it can get rather tedious.

I don't think BigDave went out of his way to be rude. He was probably just fedup with seeing something that was answered a few questions down.

This sort of thing happens a lot in the Advert section.

Asking a question 3 times when an answer was given almost immediately the first time the question was asked wastes the time of others. BigDave44 was quite correct to say what he did, in my opinion.

I can't see what the fuss is about. I've seen Bigdave44 helping people all the time.
It is annoying when an answer is given and then the question's posted again.
yvonnejoyce, you seem to have 2 AB names. That's clever.
Also a Bradford's Puzzle solver would have been useful in your case. AND you can't report someone who merely makes a point in a polite manner But you could find yourself reported as the question setter.

If you have a problem with any user, please email the editor instead of starting a thread about him or her.

It should be obvious that such a thread will encourage bullying of that person by some, support from others and will result in a slanging match.

Better still, ignore the replies from that user unless they are truly offensive in your opinion.

I agree with all the answers given to yvonnejoyce. It must also be mentioned that the question that BigDave44 was referring to was asked more than once by the SAME person after the answer was given an hour before. She will look a complete idiot if she dares to report him.

Rudeness (and arrogance) seems to be inherent on this site. It is a great place to air views and have questions answered, but some posters are quite offensive. I would rather get no reponse than a rude, self opinionated one. The author of the original questione need more explanation not a rude rebuff! Nobody knows everthing and shaing of knowledge is a privilage....
