Your 80a is correct, and applying the same formula (ie bird name + n) will give you 110a.

61a as far as I can see is the wince-inducing MOORED (sounds like Maud!)

70d is mate (in an unusual meaning), I think, and the others in that group should follow a similar logic, though I haven't got there yet.

I am also having trouble finishing off this Crossword, but for 37d I have DINER (sounds like DINAH) in the same style as 104 being ROWS (sonds like ROSE) and 61 being MOORED (MAUD).

My copy of the grid has 14d as unclued? Are you saying that you have a clue referring to "Golf club"?

14d is 'spoon', an old word for what's now a 3-wood. That leaves an unclued light at 105d which doesn't seem to belong to either the golf clubs or the girls.

I concur with 'diner'.

I still have the problem of what to make of 47 (t?t), 70 (mat?), 73 (p?t) and 99 (re?), which are connected in some way I can't grasp to 'midwinter'. Any suggestions?
