The Christmas Address was interesting. She wrote it herself. Apparently we should learn from the past and a key lesson is that people who are happiest are those who are outgoing and do charitable works. She then illustrated this noble aspiration by showing us pictures of her own son and grandsons shaking hands with children etc.
Must say, I lost the thread at this point. The image of her own family being examples of some latter day Barnardos or Mother Theresas didn't quite work for me ! And I never knew that shaking hands and smiling were acts of 'outgoing' or helping others.

I thought I saw Betty Windsor in our local Tesco's dragging a huge turkey along behind her in one of those stupid four wheel shoppers. She looked really flustered still had her curlers in. Caught site of a couple of present tags. One on a bottle of plonk said Phil but could not see what Chas and Andy had got. She had some Tesco's own washing up liquid and a couple of tins of own brand baked beans and a pack of value sausages. She was scrabbling around in her purse for the keys to her three-wheeler. In a right tizz. Seems like times are tough for all of us
