Why is there a gremlin in AB?

Some of the time, am 100% certain of answer yet unable to answer as being blocked + frustrating to see someone answer the q later and my answer has not been put up there + still right now unable to answer anyone else's post even though logged in + always polite + willing to help. What is happening?

Seriously, because of the length of your posts, you are unlikely to have exceeded the site limit of 20 answers in 5 minutes.
What browser do you use? There are problems with some of them, for example Internet Explorer 8 must be run in compatibility mode.

Sometimes you refresh the screen and it just hangs, sometimes you submit an answer and yes, you guessed, it just hangs.

When that happens I close the browser and reopen it.

Other times there is no waiting, and the site works as it should.

The problem seems to be that the site server(s) just can't cope with the demand sometimes.

Try pressing Esc button & re-admitting. Internet could be downloading updates simultaneously.

How do I know if Internet Explorer is/is not in compatiblity mode, as I am having the same problems as Bea.

Sorry for the intrusion, Bea

Schutzengel - This only applies to IE version 8. You need to right-click on an empty part of the toolbar at the top, and ensure that the compatibility view button is selected. If you press this button while in a website, it will go dark around the outside, indicating the site is in compatibility mode. This will be remembered for all access to the website, until you turn it off. So many websites need this to be selected, that you wonder what Microsoft are up to !!

Do agree with you though, why have it run in what must be "incompatible mode" as standard. It seems like MS are trying, once again, to force the rest of the world to conform to their "standards" (I use that word very loosely).

Anyhow, sorry bea, to offer an answer to your question this site is currently running on a badly written SQL database that has lots of dead ends and redundant loops in its lookups which cases the database to time-out far too often.

It has been promised by the "powers that be" it is a problem they are working on and should be resolved early this year. Personally I'm not holding my breath though.
