13 Answers
i've always had my ribs sticking out but it didnt bother me until now because its gone a lot worse.
look:

(bad pics; sorry!)
its one thing that they stick out; but my left rib is actually higher than my right one!
i went to the doctors; had an xray and all they said was that its not life-threating in any way.
it gets in my way when i exercise, even sleep!
any ideas what i can do? dont tell me to eat more; im not the thinnest person around therefore i dont need more weight.
building muscles wont help either; it wont cover them up in any way.
please help/

Do you have your arms raised in that photo? If you do then your ribs will stick out more than usual. If not then maybe that is just the way you are built. Your doctors have said that there is no risk to you from this so unless you have some sort of surgery to correct it then there is nothing you can do about it. I would visit your GP again and tell them how much this is affecting your life daily (not able to exercise or sleep) and ask them to refer you to an orthopaedic surgeon.
If I showed you a photo of my ribcage you would know what a sticking out ribcage was! I have had asthma for over 20 years and was diagnosed with emphysema a few years ago, years of abnormal breathing has caused me to be barrel chested, which on someone who weighs as little as I do looks quite scary.lol
