Another fantastic puzzle- congratulations and thanks to Loda.
I shall second that, and also extend thanks to Philoctetes for posting the early link - you're a hero in more ways than one !
Phew!! and quite simply Wow! For only my fourth listener, that took me quite a while. I was lucky that I had deduced all of the instructions and solved the theme before completing the grid, and thankfully before the spoiler on this thread!! Thus giving me extra leverage in the solving of the clues.

Congratulations to Loda on an intricate and satisfying puzzle, quite superb.

I would just like to say that it is a pleasure to find like minded souls that are also sat at home surrounded by huge dictionaries, reams of paper, and grids, and understand that the solving is for personal reward/satisfaction and not for any prize. It is this reason that I read the posts and not in search of the solution.

Well Done to everyone involved, and I look forward to next weeks!
Clamzy, concerning your earlier thread about my 'confidence' in my solution.

I could marry you, whatever sex you are.

Your statement about me not being satisfied with my line inside the central square was all it took to look again. I could bluster and lie and tell you that I had it right but I'm not like that. I figured out what was wrong (without looking again at the postings here, I can honestly say) and sorted it. My central square now contains the correct requirement and my line is elsewhere.
I can't believe I didn't twig earlier. I blame a busy month at work and my stupidity. My earlier TWO postings of how brilliant this puzzle is still stand, if not even more so now. Thanks Clamzy.
. . . and apologies to midazolam. I even failed to twig after reading your posting and gentle nudge yesterday (10.32) when you were sure that 'there was more to it than that.'
Thank you.
I deserve to be publicly flogged. My girlfriend (who has enjoyed reading this entire thread, bless her) will be charging for tickets.

Glad to have been of help, but have to turn down your proposal being already hitched:-)
Quite simply,stunning.

Wouldn't have made the final leap without a nudge from my previously mentioned VERY CLEVER FRIEND. Although Growth's well intentioned but inappropriate posting would have steered me. First failure of the year.

Congrats to the non-collusive solvers
Though it was always clear what the answer was I couldn't figure out the wordplay for 31dn for love or money - even a Wikipedia search on the history of Tamworth piggery failed to help me. Penny finally dropped this morning. I feel very very stupid!.
Okay - I don't see how to get from instruction 2 (from the across misprints) to whatever instruction 3 is. Can some kind soul give me a nudge?
Ah blast and ******* I had one of the misprints wrong! Now I see how to get from 2 to 3. Amazing how this always happens just after I ask for a hint....
Wow. Just recovering from what feels like at least 2 or 3 for the price of 1. Not a good week to have been away all weekend and busy at work during the week! Glad to see there has been plenty of discussion to suggest I wasn't the only one taking a while over this one. Am almost hoping this evening's will be a bit easier (all right - not really!) ! But could anyone remove a final niggle by explaining the wordplay in 21d ?
Jock's pen = ree

During = in
Phew - thanks Cruciverbali. Totally failed to spot that meaning of ree. I'll put it down to Thursday night tiredness. Ho hum. Only a few hours to go !
