I have three answers left that fit but I do not fully understand the reasoning. In the clues the letter 'C' is the name of a composer which appears in the answer. 22ac.About time to interrupt C's twin(6) ??S?O? 22d.Informal federation turning into one of its components(6) ????A? 23ac.Not so-so, on reflection, detaining educators after C(10) ?A?L?C?O?? My proposed answers are CASTOR; CASUAL; FALLACIOUS. Any comments or advice gratefully accepted.
Casual = USA backwards in CAL for California.
Fallacious = Falla plus OU (Open University) within sic backwards.
I agree with your Castor, but couldn't really see why apart from twin.
Oh for crying out loud! But isn't it amazing how - when someone else asks about a clue that puzzled one at the time - it all becomes miraculously clear?
I'll tell you what, K, I'm off to have some breakfast! This is all too much for me.
(I wonder whether this will appear twice. Not sure what happened above.)
