very funny!!! I am quite aware of that, you are obviously very clever. As new to cryptic some readers may have a particular answer of how to go about them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was not being funny.reading the clues is a great part of deciphering the answers. some answers are obtained from anagrams of words within the clues. other clues come from words within the words. for example:- within I hear the
fireplace. the answer here is hearth, taken from I (hear th)e.
I was not trying to be facetious as my answer might have appeared. I enjoy helping people who are having trouble with some of the answers
Get yourself a good dictionary for cryptics .bradfords and chambers are the best .Different compilers have a different mind set so it's worth getting to know one compiler at a time and the way they go about compiling their devious clues :)
.Have a look here . http://www.crosswordtools.com/cryptic-crosswor ds.php
Or buy yourself a book .I think the Times does books of cryptics .I know the Telegraph does. You can then attempt them and the answers are at the back so you can then see how they are worked out .Good luck in your endeavours .
