Thank you both for that. Why is it greetings ... plural?
I always thought that Greeting/Greetings could be interchanged as singular. And only Greetings could be plural.

Thanks pbeach. I'm going to go with Hiya! but Chambers gives no guidance on 'greetings' being sing as well as pl !!
Greetings Kettledrum, or Hiya, Howdy, etc. Clue appears to be valid (in my opinion!)
