I have completed the grid, having resolved the clashes.

But I am unsure as to what the highlighting instruction involves.

I am tempted to highlight:

1d
followed by the "journeyer's" name
followed by 43a.

Anybody else have any thoughts on this please?

Hi Tichfield

I've been staring at this off and on since yesterday morning. We know we've got to go from top left to bottom right, and that the grid represents 'a choice of journeys' to achieve that. As I see it, yours is one of them, and the other runs 1 ac, the other 6 letter word, 18 dn.

We are told to highlight the journeyer's 'entire route'. I can't see how to decide between the two alternatives. Perhaps we should highlight both?
I tend to agree with Tichfield.

The poem - called "The Road Not Taken" - says:

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference. "

They appear to only want the one he actually travelled by, which was only one of the two.

But it is not very clear.
But the poem says he took 'the one less traveled by', and each of the two alternatives only contains half of that phrase. Also, I'm not sure why the journeyer's name should be part of his route....
I agree - it's not clear what is wanted.
On the basis that the two six-letter groups connect the unclued grid entries into a pleasing shape, I've decided to highlight the whole lot.
