Answers on many occasions are voluminous and full of good advice...............BUT...........do you have the impression that they make not a jot of difference? It's like dieting advice, if it worked, we would all be slim. If infidelity advice worked, we would all be virtuous.

Every schoopl of thought and emotion is brought here, so we have our facists, or racists, or bigots, our cruel people, our idiots, our deliberatly provocative ..... and so on.
And we have our carers, or sharers, our empathisers, our wise ones, our experience sharers, our advisers ... and so on.
The AB is a slice of life, and ever may it be so.

logic........just for YOU.
The question.....
."do you have the impression that they make not a jot of difference? "
What don't you understand about that question logic.
Yes, a nice precis by andy, but did not answer the question that I asked.
Jack the hat seemed to understand, in that he answered YES......."I do have the impression that they make not a jot of difference.
So logic, the answer is yes or no.

OK, He didn't give a direct answer, but you didn't ask a direct question,,IE what do you mean by cheating,?is it holding back on what is in a wage packet,?
Is it saying you have been to a movie, when in fact you have been to the pub,
or are you talking infidelity here,If so, don't you think you should look at the reasons first,
Boyfriend ,girlfriend,if they are not married can it be classed as cheating,
And as for man or wife cheating, no. it won't make the slightest difference. a mans brain is controlled by his penis, I can't speak for the female, but I suspect they have very similar emotions,
HTH.?

No I don't have that impression.
I have seen many responses to responses where the Poster has thanked AB'ers for their advice and independent point of view, and confirmed that it has helped them to come to a conclusion.
Dieting advice does work - but not for everyone. So does infidelity advice.
But ... (refer to first answer).
How's that?

Depends - I think you'll find a number of people who have been unfaithful with one partner only to marry their lover and be faithful to them.
You'll also find a number of people who are serialy unfaithful.
It's hard to draw general conclusions because there's a wide variation in behaviour
People are notoriously dishonest in sexual research - even anonymously but I think the last convincing stuff I read on this had 60% of men and40% of women having been unfaithful at least once at some stage in their lives.
I think this was done in the US - Perhaps that might be a bit lower over here but I wouldn't think it's a lot lower.
It's more common than many people think

The majority of advice given on here when somebody posts about their partner cheating is - get rid of them, you're bettter of without them, she/he is a scumbag.
A lot of time it may be true but not always. I don't think anybody on here can tell somerbody what is right for them based on a few sentences on a website telling one side of the story.
I think people use AB more as a sounding board. Maybe they just want to talk about what's happened to people that aren't emotionally invoved in any way. Maybe the process of writing it all out makes it clearer in their heads. I think we can help/ support individuals but no, this site and people's answers is not going to solve the issue of infidelity.

I believe sometimes it is just a chance to talk to someone
about their infidelities, sometimes they want us to say great stuff get on with it, sometimes they want damning to hell, I have been there it is an emotional nightmare whether
your cheating or being cheated on, a cry for help comes to mind.
Happily married for 24 years, then it happened, I asked her out she said yes we snuck about, casual at first then passionate but she wanted more, then the trouble starts.
