Callard and Bowser Desert Nougat
(I have also posted this in the recipe section)
I used to love this nougat as a child and was so disappointed when the company stopped making it. Does anyone remember this, it was a soft nougat containing nuts and turkish delight and was delicous.
Happily I have found an easy way of making my own and wonder if anyone wants the method which I have listed below:
All you need is some soft nutty nougat, you can buy some almond nougat from the website A Quarter Of, they sell them in 8oz bags, I bought 2 bags to make this (1.93 each). Then you need some rose flavoured turkish delight, you can also get this from A Quarter Of which sells Rose and Lemon pieces.
Now chop or cut the rose turkish delight into small pieces. You may wish to add a little more icing sugar to stop them sticking together. Next heat the nougat in a microwave. Be careful when doing this! You will only need to heat the nougat for about a minute before checking it, both bags of nougat only took about 1.45 mins in all. If you overheat it, the nuts burn and the whole thing goes brittle once cool.
Once soft, stir in the turkish delight pieces. The mixture as it cools, will form a pliable paste and you can roll this out on a smooth surface. Don't use your kitchen surface as it tends to stick, try something like a glass chopping board. If you have any turkish delight left over, you can press this into the mixture at this point.
Once cooled cut into squares with a sharp knife and enjoy!
