PA System

I'm putting together a small PA system for some fundraising events and need a little advise.

The speakers have 2 speakon sockets on the back, but are not labelled.

Can I use any of these as an input?

Is the other socket and 'out' to connect to another speaker (a subwoofer for example)?

I understand that by adding an additional speaker into the chain will bring the impedence to 4ohms which is perfectly acceptable.

Is it ok to have 2 speakers on one channel and 1 speaker on the other? I do not want the sound to sound unbalanced, but then i guess thats the purpose of the audio level controls for each channel.

Be careful you don't overload the amp by adding too many speakers...4 ohms is about the accepted norm/load any amp can handle without overheating! Always go for 15/16ohm speakers which will give a total load impedance of 8ohms when you use two. At least then, you will be able to use an extra two (of equal impedance) connected to the 'out' socket you mentioned...this way the total impedance will be 4ohms. Finally,don't go adding uneven amounts of speakers to each channel...keep everything balanced! Good luck.

The two speakon sockets will be in parallel, so you can treat either as an input or as an output to another speaker (of the same impedance). It's not really a good idea to have two speakers on one channel and one on the other.

The amp you linked to gives 460 watts into 8 ohms, and the speakers are rated at only 350, so be careful not to overload them by running at too high a level!
