Daily Star ... an apology

I posted a thread yesterday

suggesting that the Daily Star crossword was a bit simple

and that needing to seek help on Q&P was amusing.

Well ... I apologise.

I have, today, bought a copy of the Daily Star.

Some of the clues are harder than I expected.

For instance ...

10a. Batman's accomplice (5) R_B_N

17a. Freshwater fish (4) C_RP

27a. A spirit drink (3) G_N

11d. Stinging insect (4) W_SP

So, erm ... quite challenging then ...

... and I was wrong to tease.

I'm sorry.

JJ naughty.................a good job that the Daily Star wasn't a woman, otherwise CB would be ablaze with flames of female outrage.
JJ that should be in Quizzes and Puzzles.

Couldn't get 27a.
Is 11d a WISP?
Question Author
I was thinking ... WOSP ??

L O L !!
Lol Jayne :-D
Are you certain that W_SP are correct?
That was very brave of you though jj, buying a Daily Star. Did your newsagent give you some strange looks?

I'm not at all sure, sqad ...

Because the clues in the Daily Star crossword are very difficult ...

... so it is not inconceivable that I may have erred in trying to complete other clues.

Here are two more hard ones:

7a. Holds, or possesses (3) H_S

14a. Brass instrument (4) TUB_

28a. A trio of big rugby wins (6,5) TRI_P_ , C_OWN

(could it be ... "Trippy Clown" ?)

It's all too difficult ... I'm going back to The Guardian.

Vibe ... of course I mean it !!!!!

I think 17a is......CRAP....and you've got the R in the wrong place.......but Spodo may know better....
Oh dear JJ... as a rugby fanatic (and on occasions Guardian crossword solver), I'm in total dismay that the letters given for 28a are incorrect!!!
It's little wonder you're not able to find the answer!! ;O)
...lol...sarumite.....JJ is a rugby fan as well.....
Question Author
Sarumite is quite correct ...

I will avoid The Daily Star in future.

(especially as the young lady on Page 3 has slightly strange breasts)
