Thank you DrFilth - have never heard of it and no mention in any of my reference books. Still, they say you learn something new every day!!!
i have checked my 4 dictionaries and it is not in any of them

I have the Concise Oxford English Dictionary
on my computer and the word 'agogo' is listed.
definition:- NOUN(plural agogos) A small bell made of two joined metal cones,
used as a percussion instrument in African and Latin music.

Thank you baitress - at least I know DrFilth was right and not just guessing. I have the Oxford English dictionary (NOT CONCISE) on my computer and it does not show agogo - must upgrade!!!
