Thankyou greyfox, a brilliant answer that opens up another can of worms! I had entered OZONE at 12ac with the tenuous logic that it is a form of oxygen with the formula O3,with the close of 20 being 0 repeated three times! The only word that now is apparent is OVOID, but I don't yet see the reasoning.

If you were to give the clue here, then you wouldn't be restricting yourself to only getting replies from those who have that crossword.

Sorry Jumbuck. The crossword has a theme with many clues referring to the answer to 20 down which was 'NOTHING'. In such clues words such as love,nil,none are substituted for '20'. The clue I am stuck on is12ac.:- Form close to 20 20 20 (5) O?O?D

Must be OVOID:

split the 20's up and get

definition: form close to 20 = form close to 0 (should be a round zero)

subsidiary: 20 20 = o void
