�108 for 57 days gas (in summer with no heating)

Moved into flat 28th may 09 and meter was read by landlord (1062) then british gas checked it again on 24th July 09 (1327). 265 units of gas used in 57 days.

I have been charges �108 for 57 days gas usage in a new 2 floor flat with 2 people living their. No heating and only use gas hob 4 time a week.

Therefore, Gas hob and hot water have cost �108 for 57 days usage for just 2 people.

Does this sound correct ?, if so my bills will be like �200 a month in the winter just for gas, which i cant afford.

Any advice ?

I have been paying son's gas bills for him and for 8 weeks they have been averaging �70 in summer . One floor no heating on. Combi boiler so only heats water that is running. Cold fill washing machine. Doesnt use oven. so yours is higher and worth checking. We live on Isle of Man where fuel is very expensive.

This cannot be right. I have gas hob and combi boiler and my bill was only about a third of yours! You need to report it, unless of course your landlord read it wrong or someones tapping in to your supply

Zacsmaster
A Unit of gas is about 30kWh. It varies slightly according to the gas but it's a good benchmark.
So that is 8000kWh in 57 days of summer.

Agree with your rough usage figures on house sizes. There is something seriously wrong here.

I will definately take this up with British Gas asap. Also i think that I will take a meter reading daily at the same time, that way I can see my daily usage. hopefully.
