for 8. the crust is the outer layer of the earth, and also "a hard outer layer that covers something" Not a great clue, I think.

Thanks dr b for the two answers. I was thinking of Hebe rather than Hellen which now makes it clear. I agree that the clue for "crust" is not one of the best clues ever!

Sandy-Wroe is right, living = crust = on the edge, it's hard - double meaning, no better, no worse than most of the clues.
I think this one is a bit naughty......Greek beauty is Helen giving Hel--en-. Then you have lb for pound (not pounds)...reaches ton....t. Answer Hell Bent.
