15a Makes connection in seaside golf course either _ L _N_S_ (7) or L_N_S (5) Thought it might be LINKS but can't seem to link it to the golf course part of the clue! Thanks for any help.

A links course is one by the sea. It is the ground 'linked' to the sea.

Yes, there are three types of golf courses

parkland (typically inland, trees play a big part e.g. Wentworth)
heathland (typically inland, sandy soil, heather, e.g. Walton Heath) and
links (typically coastal, built among sand dunes, wind plays a big part, e.g. St. Andrews).
