34acr- Young toffs were noisome? Quite the reverse (5)

24dn- Bird's wind instrument shortened at both ends (6)

28dn - To express approval for barrel I swallow all but litre within (5 ,2 words)

Or Swabia pronounced as sway (supremacy) + beer (bock). I think that's probably what Azed had in mind, but it's the same difference. Definitely the trickiest corner of the puzzle!
