Okay guys - i'm at a loss - been trying to work this one out for ages and ages!!! It is a song that starts of with a 'magical' sounding musical introduction. I know that the band who sings this song is a rock band but it is not a rock band style song at all. It's very dreamy sounding and Christmassy too (I think).

I think it was out at Christmas time in 1989/1990. My sister bought it on a single LP and used to play it over and over again (I must only have been about 8 at the time). Part of the lyrics include something about children's eyes being bright or something.....???

It's doing my head in, as I am DYING to get hold of this song and just CAN'T work it out!! My sister has a terrible memory and has no idea what i'm going on about when I mention it to her (she's now 35). Please help me - i'm desperate!!

You've got me wondering now too Sproutstick - the only thing I can think of that sort of fits is Greg Lake's I Believe in Father Christmas but that first came out in the mid 70's & went back in the charts in the early eighties. Have you got the year right?

this is a stab in the dark but maybe it's ABBA's I HAVE DREAM lol...altho i doubt it cuz yo prob woulda heard Westlife's version of it a few years ago and I think Abba was largey dissipated in 1990 .. but it does sound chrismassy in the beggining and all dreamy and i think it has summin about children in it...ABBA wasnt a rock band tho either...

Other thing i can think of which was around that time is WE ARE THE WORLD by Michael Jackson and friends..."we are the world, we are the children..we are the ones that make a brighter day so lets dtart giving..." lol thats also a stab in the dark lol but maybe it helps...

The Scorpians (dreadful) Wind of Change was out about 1990, had a whistling intro and referred to the children of tomorrow a number of times.  Not at all Christmassy though
I've never actually heard the record, but looking in my big charts book, in November 1989 Iron Maiden had a single in the chart called "Infinite Dreams". Can't see them doing a Christmassy type tune though.
The first thing I thought of was Life In A Northern Town by Dream Academy for some reason.
Seeing as everyone else is guessing, my guess is that it's "Keeping The Dream Alive" by Freiheit.

Never underestimate the power of nostalgia Bangkok!!!!  The memories that I associate with that song are some of the happiest in my life.  It makes me feel good when I listen to it because it enables me to recall the 'feeling' of being a child at Christmas.  I know it sounds crazy, but it's true...

Enjoy it Sproutstick, and don't get me on to the subject of Babushka by Kate Bush when I was really ill with mumps!
