What did Golem lose?

It's a General Knowledge question, so any number of characters.

Friends have suggested Gollum, not Golem, but the question is exactly as above.

Any links to an answer would be much appreciated

Thanks

interesting. As i understand it, golem is a mystical creature of clay and dust, subservient to its creator.

In legend it can become uncontrollable, so maybe the answer is control, or perhaps it's master/creator?
The ring.
In the 1920 film Der Golem, the golem is awoken when the life-awakening word is placed in an amulet on his chest, this amulet is called a Shem. At the end of the film a small child takes this amulet from his chest and the Golem loses its life-spirit.

That's one possibility.

Thanks scotchollie and Annie.2

Annie, do you have a link, or can you tell me what ring? Is it a novel?
Thanks
i think Annie is referring to Gollum as you have already discounted in your question, as he lost the ring in the Lord of the rings trilogy
Gollum and Golem are interchangeable in the book "Lord of the Rings" (Wikipedia refers).
"The Golem. There is also a character named Golem in J.R.R. Tolkien's classic series The Lord of the Rings."

I cut and pasted this from the site, chelle7272.

Thanks everyone.

If those two names are interchangeable I'll go for "the ring"
