I'm stuck on a couple - notably 30 across. I don't want the solution to this (yet!!) but just to know if I've got 27 down wrong and am so confusing myself. I've got "resent" for this but I fancy it's wrong. Definitely got "R?S???". Am I wrong?
I think that your resent is the wrong answer. If you stick with the rest and look at another letter in place of the n you will find a word that medically means to cut away part of a bone (or organ). I am not sure what the word is that is half concealed - unless it is possibly a latin one - still working on this one myself!
Thanks to all for help. I'll beaver on. I'm now 100 pc convinced that my original "resent" was hopelessly wrong. I first put in "renest" meaning to "cut away" and being half of "bone" in "rest". When this proved wrong on account of the "s" on the end of Anglo-Americans. I opted for resent. Silly really, but there you go.
Surely this shouldn't be a problem as 30a ends in the letter c.
I enjoyed this crossword, especially the arrangement of 19a.
I have only one problem and that is with 28d the clue being " Joint-top TV show may be presented with this force." ?E?M?
As the original author of this thread I thought I'd like to let you know I have completed the grid. It was a pleasurable challenge and in the end all made sense!
Thanks again for all your contributions.
I've just come to this thread and found I have done all except 4d. I have several possibles but absolutely no explanation. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks
Must be right but diabolical. Enigmatist continues to be . . . enigmatic!! Got the answer but for totally the wrong reason. Thanks for contributing. T.
