Thanks K and M
Thanks for the ever dependable links chaps.
Thanks to you both
Thank you guys once again - much apreciated
Yes it was fun. Took me back to my youth.
Thanks K & M for the link - thankfully it was more straightforward (for me anyway!) than last week's and everything has clicked into place nicely!
Has anyone checked the solution grid given for puzzle 1948? On my reckoning there are five mistakes in it, but I could be wrong. Any advance on five?
Just checked. I found 5 too.
Many thanks for the link
It's worth emailing Doc about those errors in the solution. Not good.
There's also an error in the preamble of this week's puzzle - 3 of the thematic lights (1,10 and 18) have 2 words, not 2 as stated.
I agree Mysterons. BTW I am not sure about the reference to 14 in connection to the case carrier in 5D. Any explanations?
It's OK. The penny has dropped! It's all in the pronunciation.
I'm confused. If I have completed the grid correctly, the preamble should read: 1 of 4 words, 2 of 3 words and 3 of 2 words. Can anyone confirm this, please?
18d can be written as one or two words, so I think the preamble is correct.
You need to distinguish between lights and titles, zita-green. Although there are 7 titles (I think you may have missed an inexpensive suburban thoroughfare), these are spread over 8 lights, 3 of three words, 3 of two words and the other 2 referred to above. In my experience NM is never written as one word, but maybe I just see what I want to see ?
The number of two-word unclued lights is debatable not because of 18d (always two words) but 10d. Chambers gives this as hyphenated (ie one word) but the title of the original work referred to has two words, no hyphen. Nitpicking, really. It was good fun and about right in terms of difficulty.
