You are quite right Bathtub, the best clue is as it appears but just in terms of alternatives 'Bea' is the more usual abbreviation for Beatrice & a 'Trixie' is a bet (in the gambling sense) so both can be made to work although 'stung' then loses its neat allusiveness as the anagram indicator. Anyway, a very enjoyable puzzle.
A very belated thanks for the link. Had some time this afternoon so managed this stroll down memory lane. I'd like to say that my parents told me about this.....but I'd be lying.
