Magazine cover prices?

Hello

I've recently discovered a beautiful Danish bi-monthly magazine which has a cover price of €10 (about £8.25).

After a search, I've discovered a single UK outlet, but they charge £16.99 for a single issue!

I was just wondering how they can do this if the cover price is so vastly different.

When I asked them about the discrepancy, they say it is down to how much their bank charges them to pay the supplier in Euros and postage (though their supplier says they send to retailers foc). They also say the cover price is only when the magazine is bought in Europe. I thought we were in Europe?

Thoughts anyone? Does a cover-price count for naught any more?

The Sunday Times costs more to buy in Spain than here too.
Why not contact the publisher and see if you can buy a subscription for direct mailing to you? Might work out less. Most Danes speak English so shouldn't a problem contacting the publisher if your Danish is a little rusty.

Yes I have contacted them directly and am waiting for an answer at the moment. I have a feeling postage from abroad every other month may be a little steep though...

Most Danes have fantastic English, you're right. The magazine is in English too

I expected to pay a little more than £8.25, but not a 200% increase!

I was seeking another way for you because there is no obligation to supply to you outside the distribution zone of the magazine at the price on the cover.

Yes, that is a US website there!

They charge about $32 just to post it to US residents, so I dread to think how much it would be to come here!

I appreciate your hunting it down though :o)
