Why do you people do crosswords you evidently can't do?
You ask others to solve them for you.
How can you get any satisfaction when you can't complete it without help?
Why do you start them in the beginning?

There's enough stress in your lives without adding to it.

Because we like doing crosswords .I don't find them stressful ,on the contrary . I can lose myself for a couple of hours especially with a meaty cryptic and it keeps the old brain matter working .It's a well known fact that crosswords prevent dementia .Use it or lose it .
If people ask for the answers or help with a clue I am only too happy to help them .
I love trivia and quizzes and have been doing crosswords since I was about ten years old .
If you are not a dedicated cruciverbalist then you wouldn't understand the pleasure people get from them so I see your point .
But ..each to their own .

i could not agree more shaneystar2, i learned to do cryptic crosswords years ago, at first i would only get a handful of answers, but after a while you getinto the way the compiler is thinking, but even then you get stuck occasionally and as you say, it keeps the grey matter active :-))

Surely it is also a stress reliever if you are stumped on the last few,plus as others have said it helps you see the word play. How to spot anagram indicators etc

Agreed, to.....tally pointless IMO !
Crosswords/quizzes should be UNASSISTED personal tests of aptitude - otherwise where's the true job-satisfaction of completing them ?!

I really enjoy doing crosswords, but it took me a long time to get any kind of handle on cryptics. I'm still often stumped. Asking on sites like this doesn't only give you the answers, it shows you how to solve them in future.
I don't have a problem asking for help, any more than I have a problem helping someone else if I have solved the clue when they haven't.
Crosswords remove stress from my life, they certainly don't add to it....you cannot think of other problems when you are concentrating on a crossword.

I must admit some of the newspaper crosswords are mostly easy especially the GK ones ,the answers to which are easy to find with the aid of a dictionary or bit of Googling but when it comes to the cryptics it's a whole different ball game.
If you don't ask you can't learn .
I wonder Jem if you could answer this one :-)
