Upper arm muscle pain

For the last three weeks or so, I've had occasional pain in the muscles in my upper arms, both sides - if I move awkwardly, the pain is really bad. I hope it is nothing to do with muscle pain associated with taking statins... but then OH has been complaining this weekend of upper arm pain too, and he's not taking meds. Straight lifts are fine, but even leaning heavily on it awkwardly brings on the pain for a few minutes. In between, it doesn't hurt. I know I need to exercise but what else can we do, and how come we both have it?

Are you both doing heavy wrestling? :-)

Seriously, I hope you both find out what's causing your painful arms and a remedy for them. Be well Boxy. x

LOL society, like I would tell you that! It's really odd - he mentioned it a couple of weeks ago and we put on some muscle rub, he does lift weight at work sometimes so I thought he'd pulled something. it was only when I complained about my pains that he said that his were the same. It's both odd and painful! Thanks for the good wishes ♥
You know my feelings about statins.

Almost certainly muscular.

Cheers sqad, worrying though in that we both have this pain and OH isn't on any medication at all. I'm due for a blood test for cholesterol and liver function in early Dec - would you suggest I go earlier?
Boxy my love ......why?

Blood cholesterol and liver function tests are almost certainly not going to give you the cause of your muscle pains.

;-) - I thought I inferred from your reply that you thought it had something to do with the statin.... and muscle weakness is one reported side-effect (although this isn't weak, just painful).
boxy....I do think that it is the statins.......but what good will the blood tests do in answering your question.....NONE........so what is the point in going earlier?

Strange it's selective as to which muscles then..... I'll see what my results are as to whether I carry on. I was just over the 5 last time (too many cakes) but the time before my GP asked if I wanted to come off. Much loved GP has now retired however, I'll see who I get this time.
boxy...ah!...got it now...if your cholesterol is within normal limits, you will "kick the statins into touch"....good idea.

I'll let you know - thanks Sqad xx (sorry if I ramble, putting the clocks back has thrown me all to pot this morning)
boxy...thanks I will be interested......but remember my feelings re. statins are not the majority medical opinions.....so take the advice of your GP.

P.S Had a great weekend....could have been better with you.......;-)

Morning m'dear, you wouldn't want to be here today, winds from the North, and it's drizzling..... am seeing the GP in 2/52 to check cholesterol, have explained aches prob, they will look at results of test then discuss.
boxy..good morning. Cloudy here but warm. I had a swim at 6.am which is normal for me, but the pool is heated so the temperature was about 26degC.
Let me know what your GP says to you as i will be interested.
