On reflection, Seabiscuit is probably a better answer, as Secretariat was too late for the depression. Either way, a couple of your other answers are almost certainly incorrect...
Secretariat raced in the 1970s, probably not the depression the Q has in mind. On the other hand, Seabiscuit doesn't fit.

No I think Mark is correct in saying something is answered wrongly. Only Seabiscuit fits the clue.
Seabiscuit is one letter too short for the clue as given.
I had seabiscuit
35 across is 10 letters not 11...........and I don't know where the A at the end is from as it's a blank square.
Seabiscuit it is then, and none of the other answers is wrong, just a superfluous A.
