Listener 4111: News Quiz by Stan

Another relatively gentle start to the week (if I've got it right, that is). I'm not sure the question revealed by the corrected letters is properly answered by the final grid, which is where I have misgivings, but I can't see another way of doing it. The jumbled entries also defy convention in one respect, but then I guess Listeners can do that. I'd be interested to see what the rest of you think!

I think I know what you mean. I'm just coming to the final stage, having been held up by a crucial part of the question. I'm pretty sure that I know what is going on, but there is still that element of doubt.

Yes, I thought the positioning was pretty cute. And indeed, the question does seem to be one of those Qi questions that Alan Davies is bound to get wrong under the terms of his contract. Some smug people on line telling everyone else how stupid they are for not knowing it!

Relatively easy on the cluing and finding the misprints, but the endgame was fun. And finally, a theme that is right up my alley!

I can see where this one's going but am having annoying difficulties in completing the grid, I suspect because I'm not sure which answers are jumbled. Also my answer to 10dn hardly qualified for what I take to be the definition, and 31dn is not in the BRB.

Having checked on the internet (2 sites) myself; I am still stuck with what I consider to be the main point of the theme! I will check other sites just to be sure. Contendo, are you solving a different crossword to the rest of us? I don't have a 10dn or a 31dn - and my 10ac seems fine. What is the BRB, pray? (Bradford's Reference Book???)

Yes, fairly straightforward and an enjoyable endgame. I guess I probably could have worked out the answer to the question but had never considered it before and it was indeed somewhat unexpected!

Working on this one, slowly. Was unable to comment on my (possible) success last week as the site would not let me in, recognise my password or allow me to reset it. I couldn't find a "contact" button either. I have now re-registered under an alias, using a "spare" email address, and an extra "n" in my username. Can't repeat this, so does anyone have any advice? May all be my incompetence, of course.

I got the question, also the answer. Husband was insisting otherwise, so I too asked the question on line. I almost don't believe it either, Zabadak.
Must be another easy one if even I have finished it already!

I have everything and have highlighted the answer- but checking through there seems to be an anomaly in 12 ac: the corrected clue letter won't produce the letter clearly required by the question. Has anyone else noticed this?

Mostly plain sailing - the surprising aspect to the answer to the question was a piece of trivia that I had previously come across. However I am still staring at 21ac (all other entries complete and answers highlighted). I had assumed that only the answers forming part of the theme were to be jumbled, but am I wrong here ?
