I have been answering crosswords for fifty years but didn't know the white squares had a special name, can anyone help please? Also in my edition 13 16 and 17 down are messed up leaving me no clue about 17d. (no double entendre intended)

You haven't said which crossword it is but someone posted a question earlier about a missing 17d- I think the clue was something like 'common name for the daisy tagetes (8)'

If you type 17d in the AB search box or the crossword name it will probably be near the top of the list.

I have been on the 'phone to them and they are publishing correctec clues tomorrow and extending the closing date to Friday - what a mess!
