Explanation: anagram of height in fives ( a primitive form of Rugby). Five-eighths is just over a half, fractionally.

Just a slight correction (very belatedly) to an explanation given by Mike 11111 regarding the game of Fives - it is not a primitive form of Rugby but more akin to squash and was played at Rugby School and elsewhere including Eton & Winchester.
