Is there not an error involving 34 ac and 4 dwn? The I(N) of the across clue clashes with what surely must be (T)O of the down clue. Or not?

it's in for both.Three sheets in the wind became three sheets to the wind ,both meaning the same

according to phrases.org, Three sheets in the wind was the original version and latterly the "in" has been replaced by "to"
