Donating your body to science

Before he died, my Grandad arranged for his body to be donated to Oxford Uni for medical research. I believe there was a sort of deal and the uni would pay for a service for him and provide a plaque.
Can you still do this sort of thing and if it's possible, would you do it?

I have a suspicion now, that this practice no longer exists in that a Dr, demonstrator,dissects the essential organs in front of the class.
