Chest pain and palpitations
8 Answers
HI, I'm a 30 year old female. In September 2010 I suffered from a chest infection and since then I have been experiencing palpitations and a fast pounding heart rate. In December 2010 I also began to have chest, neck and shoulder pain, the chest pain got so bad it prompted my husband to take me to A&E, there they did an ECG and chest x-ray. The results of the tests where normal and I was given codiene and difloflenac for the pain and told it was lnflammation.
The painkillers had no effect at all so I visited my GP, he thought the problem was anxiety and advised I had some time off. However the symptoms worsened and I then began to experience dizzyness, tiredness, leg cramps, shortness of breath and disturbed sleep.
I then visited another GP who has recommended blood tests and physio which I can't help but think will be pointless. I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks

It turned out I was spending too much time in the evening playing games on the PC and knocking back bottles of coke (caffeine). Cut out the coke and no more skipped beats, palpitations now rare. Not saying you are the same, but that sometimes the most worrying symptoms turn out to have a simple explanation.
