On my old laptop I used to go into an online account and each time it saved my acct name and number. Now whenever I go into the site it asks for them every time even though I have ticked the 'remember me' box!

Looking in 'help' tells me that to enable this they use a 'cookie' and that I must go into int options, privacy, and ensure I have 1st and 3rd party cookies enabled? Have done this, but still nothing happens. Any ideas where I am going wrong?

Thanks all

Normally a cookie like this would stay on your computer when you close your browser down.

Make sure your browser is not set to delete cookies at the end of each session when you close it down.

Or make sure you dont have a security product like ccleaner that cleans out cookies.
Sometimes cookies get corrupted.
Open IE .. Tools/Internet Options/Browsing History/ Delete .. top3.
Restart browser and try again .. you will need to enter all the stuff again tho .. like membership no, etc.

Thanks both. VHG - I went into tools and options again and this time I noticed another item at top which said 'delete browsing history' and under this were a load of ticked boxes - one said cookies. I unticked AA the boxes and now my details seem to have been retained . Yhanks for the hint - I would never have found this! I do seem to remember when I got this new laptop that I set it to delete browsing historynthinking that this just meant the websites I had visited that session. Am I thinking correctly now? It seems to be working!
Thank you
You are thinking in the box! : )
