Hi ixion - that is indeed what Wikipedia says, but if you look further other sources say it is an extinct volcano - the Colombia encyclopedia, for example. As its rocks consist of granite, diorite, and andesite which are igneous/volcanic, this would seem likely.
I've finished now (not as quick as you experts) but I don't get the cryptic part of 9d:
Calm little carnivore's content.
I think calm is the definition and content gives me the same word with two extra letters up front, but what has little carnivore got to do with it?
By the way, Bradford lists 20d as a volcano.
