Working Girls on tv
10 Answers
I watch this programme with sheer disbelief ! all young "ladies" featured refuse to get a job, one of them cant even be bothered to go and sign on [ boring], stay in bed half the day and they expect and seem to manage it, for their mums to support their life style i.e. beauty treatments, nail parlours even bingo !when offered "experimental jobs" the least little thing sends them into a hissy fit and they decamp, one wouldnt even get out of bed when the boss came to get her up ! It seems this is quite a common occurence with young girls these days.
Can you imagine them with kids of their own ?

Not seen it yet - but will tune in.
I think you need to look a little deeper to understand that attitudes and behaviour being exhibited here - from the points raised.
These girls have no real role model, not confidence, not affirmation, and find themselves in a dull routine with no prospect of change and growth.
An attempt to introduce them into the workplace fills them with panic and fear - this is an alien concept for which they are simply not equipped, so their reaction is temper and wtihdrawal, back to where they feel safe - at home doing nothing.
It is easy to lavel them as feckless and stupid, but what is needed is an attempt to confirm that they are worthwile and valuable people with skills to contribute, and that rewards are available for their efforts.
Break the circle of low self-esteem, lack of affirmation, lack of opportunity, and add in some genuine structured support, and this situation will change.
