I'm not, but my best friend lives there
Don't even know where it is.
The Clyde Estuary Starbuck - it was home to a lot of US Naval personnel up till the late 80s or so. It's a lovely wee town, but strange. All the big houses have been converted into flats because of the Yanks, and it was a bit of a ghost town when they left.
Och Aye Dunoo......

Thx for the responses and the interesting infos, karenmac60. The reason for my inquiry - I am trying to get in touch with a long lost friend who lives there, but is no more at the old address nor in the phonebook. From what I understand, Dunoon is a rather small place, so I thought I might get lucky that somebody here possibly knows him.
And some fell on stony ground, Salla.

boxtops, thx for the great song;)!
Wait - you've asked this before (or someone has). I did ask my friend at the time and she asked around, but to no avail. Sorry :(

Hello Karen, aaah, now I know what you mean - apparently a friend had gotten active on this, trying to find something out for me before. Nevertheless, thank you so very much for your effort. Whenever I do find this fellow again, I hope he appreciates the mutual "endeavor" ;).
Happy Easter to you and everybody!
I told you he was in Dunoon, NZ

:)
Chasonette - just had a thought about your problem. Why don't you try the newspapers? The local paper to Dunoon is the Dunoon Observer and they'll have a letters page.
http://www.dunoon-observer.com/
Alternatively, the Daily Record (Scottish daily newspaper) has a section for tracing people. You can email them on [email protected]
The benefit of this is if he is no longer in Dunoon he may still see it, or someone he knows might. Mr mac used it to track down a cousin he'd lost track of and they were in touch within days of him emailing the paper.

Good luck x
I'd ring the Post Office...............
the local one that is.............
Would they be allowed to give out that information Craft? It's also not that small a place - it's not like everyone knows one another - the adult population is over 10,000.
