MM Links Solutions May 2011 [Week 1]

I believe that I, crofter, may have set a new record in awarding over 40 points to MM Linkers on an opening game (on behalf of wickedtongue). You know too well. Pauline was even able to predict my theme well in advance! Following a theme of “Creepy Crawlies”, I chose the following link words:

BOOK Worm
Beetle DRIVE
Snail SPACE (although I was prepared to accept PACE)
Fly PAPER (although Dragonfly was tempting but rejected)

Points flew right, left and centre from the word “Go”. First comers, ulysses100 and gen2 opened with BEETLE DRIVE followed by Dinkypuzzled and deecee131, each with the obscure SNAIL (S)PACE. All four were to pick up their TWO POINTS. However, they were eclipsed (and how) by lysander, who brought to the table Beetle Drive together with the two remaining Links in BOOK WORM and FLY PAPER for a majestic score of SIX POINTS and landed the title of HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK.
*** Let trumpets sound and canons roar ***
*** The peasants cheer and shout “Encore” ***

With all four link words now in the bag, there was still time for Two Pointers to come along. These included beejay1124, patchett, owllady, middlestump & Jim . However, these were matched blow for blow by a number of FOUR POINTERS in the guise of Aquagilty, cliffyg, roslyn251254 & Jools. Once the clock reached 09.06, the opportunity for bonus points had gone.

Quite right (re: your fourth link word), crofter, one must NOT under any circumstances pander to Pauline!!

Thereafter, nine entrants were able to pick up something from the game. Of these, kawakiri, BigMac, teacher1 &SHAZZA (to their credit) managed double hits ~ if only for Two Points each.

The League Table after this first week is as follows:

These scores will start off the merry month of May and we shall now revert back to King Wickedtongue and his Queen, Lady Silvertongue for a “normal” resumption of the MM Links Game.
