A high jumper "just" clears the jump, but catches the bar.

The bar is left, bouncing precariously.

And there's a bit of a breeze.

The spectators watch with bated breath.

At what point is it declared a good jump, so the officials can secure the bar for the next athlete?

And what happens if, just after it is declared a good jump, the bar falls off?

Jogger - do you want Olympic rules or county?
A good jump is a good jump, once a good jump is declared, its final, I would imagine.

Tony ... don't know ... I was just curious.

RATTER ... yes, I suppose so.
For a jump to remain valid, the bar must remain in place until the jumper leaves the landing area (which, in the case of top class athletics, means the landing mat).

So jumpers should roll off the mat asap ... just in case !?
Jayne, now I am picturing them landing in a heap and rolling away as quick as poss, could be a medal for first off the mat
Jogger - You just up for the jump - or you going to roll of the mat?
