Are you gullible?

If someone said that an appliance of yours wants A.B.C. parts, would you pay it without Question? If someone phoned you like an elderly person in our area, some Bastd phoned her up to say she had won £250.000 but it's going to cost her £7.000 to claim it, result she lost the lot. ( Id like to meet them basdrds! scum of the earth) are you this Gullible? if your car went in for a service & you where told, it needs this / that/ would you question it?

id like to think Im not gullible to fall for scams like that poor old lady did etc, but when it comes to cars i have little to go on so do need to be able to trust the garage.

I would never part with a lot of cash without checking it out thoroughly, but as red says.. sometimes you have to trust people like mechanics, plumbers, etc.

Loads of situations in life require trust. I'd like to think I'm not gullible, but to avoid never getting scammed I'd have to live life not trusting anyone, and that just isn't on.

I wouldn't have fallen for the money scam, bless that woman's heart and damn the ones that did it. The others I think I would question if it seemed a lot of bits or expensive but even after an explanation I would probably say 'oh okay' so yeah maybe I am a bit gullible.

so what do you suggest TWR? taking your car to 10 service stations to compare notes? they all charge for looking, and I don't have the time or money to do that.

I think with tradesmen, the rule is to ask around and take the word of someone you trust as a recomendation.

I know nothing about anything practical, so i am totally at the mercy of traders of various sorts, but have not been ripped off yet - at least I don't think so!

I'm the same with cars redcrx but the garage I thought I could trust have been awful with my car so am taking it to a different (recommended) one next time!

I hate it when con-merchants prey on the elderly or those that can ill afford it. I like to think what goes around comes around and they have something nasty happen to them.

Didn't think we were gullible (hubbie is a policeman and really switched on) but at the Gare Du Nord a very helpful man showed us how to buy tickets for the Metro using his own card, he told it was £20 so we gave him the money. Turns out it was £1 each!
Very suspicious of everyone now, even if they are genuine, probably makes us look rude!

I'm sensible when it comes to money and would question a garage etc and don't think I would fall for a scam like that.

However, I am a little more gullible than I'd like to be with general matters. My other half once played a joke on me that I fell for hook, line and sinker:

OH: Do you know they're changing a word in the dictionary, they reckon its spelt wrong.
Me: Really, whats the word?
OH: Gullible
Me: Seriously? Who would look through the dictionary just to decide something was spelt wrong and want to change it??!!

I think I'm generally pretty good with scams etc... But I can be a bit dippy at times. I also think that if I took something to get fixed and they told me what had to be done then I would just pay for it as I wouldn't know or generally be interested in that sort of thing... fortunately the man hostage checks the latter stuff out so it's rarely something I have worry about.

On our local news an elderly lady was told she had won £250.000 the poor lass paid up £7.000 only to be taken to the cleaners by these evil piece's of Sht, I have heard it happen but not so close to home ( Lancs)
