Silliness for Bank Holiday Monday - My sincerest apologies William Wordsworth

Sorry ye great bard of my old home, the Lakes,
Anybody fancy writing AB verse this evening?
Here we go
"I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er ABers and Eds,
When all at once I saw a motley crowd,
A host of golden threads;
Beside the Chatterbank, beneath the trees,
Prudie’s dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the Jayne that shines
and twinkle on the Mamya Way,
They stretched in never-ending line
along the margin of a dodgy Page:
Cupid, Boxie and Ummm saw I at a glance,
tossing their heads in sprightly rants.
The AB Boys beside them danced; but they,
No one out-did the sparkling Bibblebub in glee:
An Aber it could not but be Crafty,
From all like Doc or Grommie are in such a jocund company:
I gazed - and gazed - but little thought
what wealth the Site to me had brought:
For oft the evening, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
Lady Alex flashes upon that inward eye
Which is the Karen’s bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances inside the AB mills"

On either side ABers sit
Long threads of angst, some of wit
That vent the spleen and make teeth grit
And thro it all Ed reads what's writ
To AB you do Come-A-Lot
And down and down ABers go,
Gazing in the dungeon below
Galleyed slaves, row upon row,
The land of That's Your Lot!
Faces whiten, fingers quiver,
Little faces dusk and shiver
Through bans that run for ever
By the grace of Ed, The Giver
Flowing down to Come-A-Lot
Four grey walls, and four grey towers,
Overlook a space of followers,
And the silent Ed imbowers
The call of 'That's Your Lot !'
By the moderators, willow veil'd,
Slide the heavy bolts trail'd
By slow horses; and unhail'd
The shalloweth flitteth, now curtail'd
Skimming down to Come-A-Lot:
But who hath seen her wave her hand?
Or at the casement seen her stand?
Or is she known in all the land,
The Lady of 'That's Your Lot!'

;o) you fibber DT!
I will now be singing that all ruddy night - had to do it for School Founders Day back a while, lol. Went on for ages, so it did. I have the complete works of Alfred - had to learn a poem off by heart - thank goodness for The Eagle - think he must have been off colour that day or at least running out of ink ☺

Come friendly bombs and fall down ‘ere
When abers drink too much beer
And come online and exact some fear
To lesser mortals like me
Don’t spare the Ed
If he has suspend-ded
Me again, as is his want
If I don’t submit to his rant
Clean the slate and level the field
So we can all glean the yield
Of pastures green and crops anew
Full of friends new & old
To share, learn and be told !
