I am very proud to say that my son was Confirmed yesterday at Salisbury Cathedral. A lovely service, but the most amazing thing was the font. A huge font, capable of being used for a full submersion baptism and a 'living' feed of water. Well worth the visit if you are in the area.
I haven't been in that area for a long time nicolab, The confirmation will be something to remember considering the Cathedral has such a unique feature it sounds lovely.
I love looking at old Churches and Cathedrals, York Minster is a nice place to visit. My Oh isn't very interested in architecture or history, but I regret not going to Canterbury Cathedral when we visited a few years ago.
Hi, my son is 11, last year of junior school. We have a wonderful vicar who engages the children - it was entirely his choice to be confirmed. Today he had communion for the first time at a local church.
Strange. I like going to churches as well. I especially like St Matthew's in St Helier but maybe that's because of the unique glass decoration by Lalique.
Congrats Nicola, and best wishes for the future. Whilst on the subject of Salisbury Cathedral, does anyone know the title/author of a book about the builders of its spire? It isn`t the one written by the Lord of the Flies chap; the one I`m after purports to be a saga of generations of short-fingered masons who worked on it.
I visited Salisbury Cathedral when I was on holiday there recently. I'm non-religious but I found it to be both a beautiful building and a tranquil place. The font is indeed a very special thing. Congratulations on your son's confimation.
After our visit we went over to the museum which is now showing a Constable Exhibition. With a walk along the river and lunch in the town,Salisbury made a great day out for us.
It was my grandson's Confirmation yesterday too, not a Cathedral but a lovely service and he is only seven, has Autism too but dealt with the day really well.
