Less than a month ago, the Met Office was reporting 33 ͦ C max for Wimbledon week, and also indicating a heatwave

Now they are forecasting a week of these storms continuing running in and disrupting the event as well as the cricket at S'oton.

So what has gone wrong with their forecasts?

Again and again, we have significantly "wrong" medium term forecasting to the point that they are a national joke and almost to "the weather will be the complete opposite to what they forecast on the long/medium term."

If DC and NC want cuts, why not axe them as they are seriously underperforming?

Let's face it weather forecasting is mainly guesswork.....I usually look out in the morning, and then take a brolly just in case. As for Wimbledon.....about time they put a roof over all the courts I reckon. there could still be air coming in at the sides.
Thats about right for Wimbledon then
I cannot wait for Wimbledon!!!

Come on Murray!!!

Funny that the Americans largely get it right and even give you estimated rainfalls down to suburb levels in cities.....

Either upgrade, give someone like them access to our service, or sack the management, something is seriously wrong.
i think the weather is harder to predict in britain because we are a smallish island with a changing landscape, where as in US the landscapes are larger so weather patterns are more predictable

but then take somewhere like Florida and the SE, no bigger than the UK and a lot of variable weather..........and they get it right, or New England?
Florida has varying weather but i think it is more seasonal like hurricane season, rainy season so more easily predictable it is also very flat

possibly steg - but to come out with the prediction as the Met did re Wimbledon is a little "off," wouldn't you say?...... some slack perhaps as they coulddeem themselves in week 2 but it did read as a glorious Wimbledon....and that may be the journos.
it is a bit off, people expecting good weather then finding out it is not, is not good for the met office.
up here though you just look out the window and if it is not raining then you know that it soon will be
bloody hell ...what you done? lol.
speak to you for 5 mins and you go and get suspended ( i know it was not for any thing on this thread)
hope you are back soon.
