Grrrrr! Captcha

I have had trouble logging in to a site, the captcha characters are very fuzzy, muddled and indecipherable to me.
So, I tried listening to a captcha. Should the numbers be entered as numbers or a word - 10 or ten?

All that I have seen are entered as copy of the Captcha characters.

I've not got a clue, but you've got a 50-50 chance anyway.

But it's far simpler to keep clicking the button which provides you with alternative words. (It's like the 'recycling' symbol you see on packaging). Sooner or later you'll be offered something which you can actually read!

I did that, Chris. So many times I got locked out for an hour as punishment. :(

Yeah, I've had the same thing - but at least you were able to understand the audio version. I've never found any site where I could actually make out what was being said.
