I have an essay to write on the subject of how ancient Rome and Greece have influenced modern Europe. I have some rough ideas of different things that can be traced back to the ancient times but was wondering if anyone has any information they can give me? Doesn't even have to be very detailed just ideas, every little helps :) the exact essay question is...

"What features of modern Europe have been traced back to Ancient Greece and Rome and are such comparisons justified?"

Yes I know that's what I thought too, would have preferred it if they had given a more focused question as there seems so much to write on. Thank you for the link I'll give it a read and see what I can get from it.

there are loads to compare and contrast in this broad question : the influences of the different languages and other linguistic influences; political systems and structure ; design and organisation of travel and water transportation ; architectural style; social structure and the organisation of labour; military ambitions and how these were accomplished or failed; the emphasis on culture, philosophy, mathematics, science. These are but a few example, I am sure there are other ideas and information to explore in your notes,books and library. I hope your essay goes well, You may have to focus on certain aspects to give some depth and detail to your assignment
