MM Links Results July 2011 Wk 3

It is mid-month with three games down and two to go.

I tried hard to melt The Ice Queen's heart in order to persuade her to release more points, but with limited success. Last week, 21 points were gained and this week it is up to 29 points.

I can reveal that this week's links, all the way from Canada, were:
Solar POWER
Hot TOPIC
Fruit TREE
Grape JUICE

It is probably worth mentioning that although the setter is allowed to set any length of word, the answers that you are looking for are ALWAYS from 4 to 8 letters in length.
The three players who opted for 'Hot Chocolate' therefore wasted their attempt. I did put an alert on the thread Saturday afternoon, but it was obviously not seen.

So who were the lucky ones? and who were the losers?

I don't need to wait for the results to know that my entry was 'pointless', yet again!
But thank you both for giving us the chance to at least have a try.

Ulysses100 jumped straight in to claim SOLAR POWER for 2 points with beejay1124 and owllady in time for 2s as well. Three others later picked up a single.

Second player, roslyn251254, then claimed 2 points for GRAPE JUICE, as did grannydi, evsajo and centrino for being within 2 minutes. This was a popular choice with eight others collecting a single point later on.

The other links were harder to find and it wasn't until just after noon that Euphemia picked HOT TOPIC from the myriad of possibilities (2 points), maybe she picked up on the comment that everyone was talking about the hot weather?

As for the fruit, well, did nobody read the bit about all this produce, straight from the farm, being sold at the side of the road? Obviously not because nobody went for FRESH fruit but sneaky Mister Albaqwerty did however match with FRUIT TREE (for 2 points, which together with a single for SOLAR POWER, earned him a total of 3 points) becoming the only double-hitter of the game.

A great achievement for a relatively new player.
In fact relatives have been doing very well this month because Mr Reg Ward was hotshot in week 1.

My first points - I think that calls for a celebration!

I had a disaster with the spreadsheet. Part of it became highlighted and dragged to a new position.
I have now been back to weeks 1 & 2 and recalculated the totals.

There are just three amendments to the leaderboard.

Grannydi is also on 6 points alongside Centrino at the top of the leaderboard.
ChrisHewat(CHRIS) and Ladyalex should also be on 2 the two-points rung.

Hopefully, that is all correct now.
